A man was shot dead by his father in The Villages on Wednesday evening, but no charges have been filed, Sumter County Sheriff's deputies say.

The shooting happened at about 7:35 p.m. in the Village of Collier, within The Villages.
When deputies arrived at the scene, they determined that a father had shot his adult son, who was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators said it appears that the son attacked the father during some type of dispute, and the father shot the son in self-defense.
No arrests have been made, deputies said.
