The search for answers continues after a disgruntled employee shot and killed five former coworkers at an Orange County RV-accessory business on Monday.

The gunman, 45-year-old John Neumann Jr., shot and killed himself before deputies responded to Fiamma on Forsyth Road.

Neumann has had past nonviolent run-ins with the law, including a DUI arrest and possession of marijuana, but no one expected him to kill five former coworkers.

“You never know what people are capable of. These people... I just don’t know why anybody would hurt them,” said Todd Bluewater, who rented the back portion of the Fiamma building for his business.

Neumann was fired from his job in April.

“This individual lives alone, has no family here in the area,” Orange County Sheriff Jerry Demings said.

Monday evening, deputies spent several hours searching his mobile home in Lake of the Woods Mobile Home Park off U.S. 17-92 in Seminole County, leaving with bags of possible evidence.

Neumann's neighbors described him as being a quiet man who mostly kept to himself.

“I only talked to him in passing really. I saw him around, (and said) ‘Hey, what’s up?’ and it was nothing really more than that,” David Alter said.

"I'd see him riding his bicycle sometimes, and I'd walk by and he'd say, 'What up?' and I'd say, 'What up,' but that's it," said Wayne Dobbs, another neighbor.

Other neighbors who described themselves as friends of Neumann said the U.S. Army veteran had been "down" lately after losing his job at Fiamma. He was honorably discharged from the Army in 1999.

He was involved in a workplace incident three years ago at Fiamma, accused of beating up another employee, but no charges were filed.
