A Hillsborough County man has been arrested and charged in the stabbing of his ex-girlfriend's husband.

Deputies said Jose Casanova, 56, ambushed Allen O'Neal in a parking lot at 10314 Zackary Circle in Riverview at about 6:30 a.m. Thursday.

Casanova had a sharp object in his hand, wrapped in a cloth, and used it to stab O'Neal in the left torso, investigators said.

The stabbing victim was taken to Tampa General Hospital and treated for the injury. 

Officials said O'Neal's wife had been in a recent dating relationship with Casanova. 

Casanova admitted to engaging in a physical fight with O'Neal, investigators said. He was charged with attempted first degree murder.
