Today, Metropolitan Ministries is feeding families in the community for Thanksgiving.

The kitchen staff at Metropolitan Ministries started early Thursday morning, preparing thousands of traditional Thanksgiving meals for families in need. They plan to feed over 6,000 people today.

Staff fired up the ovens around 5:30 a.m. Thursday, cooking over 1500 lbs of turkey, 1200 lbs of stuffing and mashed potatoes, and over 1000 pies.

While Metro Ministries feeds people year round, they said the holidays can be especially tough for people.

This year's Thanksgiving brunch starts with a worship service, then the community meal will be served from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., and it's open to anyone in need.
