USF has had such a dominating run in recruiting it was a matter of time before someone took a step back (or a step somewhere else).

The person making the de-commitment: Adonis Boone.

The talented three star offensive tackle from Daytona Beach – Mainland announced on Twitter Sunday that he was backing away from his USF commitment and committing to Louisville.

Boone, a 6’5” 285-pound recruit, and a Spectrum Sports Top 20 Preseason Pick in Central Florida, had originally committed to Charlie Strong and USF on July 30^th. He was part of the 13-player flurry to commit to the Bulls over a span of five days in late July.

Boone was the Bulls third highest rated offensive lineman in the 2018 class.

Spectrum Sports was granted an interview prior to his decision being made public on Sunday:

Chris Torello: What changed with USF?

Adonis Boone: “I feel the need to get out of Florida, took a lot of prayer and talks with my parents to determine that. I just feel it’s better now than later.”

CT: What made USF a commit option in the first place?

AB: “I love everything about USF, the campus, and especially me and (USF offensive line coach) Matt Mattox’s relationship.”

CT: Why now? Why Louisville?

AB: “Louisville is a bigger scenery, more exposure for me (in the ACC). A fresh start away from home, great coaches that will help me fulfill my dreams.”

The Bulls now has 25 commitments in their 2018 recruiting class and remain the top class in the AAC.
