If you enjoy the Brevard Zoo and exploring all they have to offer, then you’re in luck. They’re expanding their linear trail by more than a mile.

  • Linear Park trail at Brevard Zoo to be expanded to nearly three miles
  • Project estimated to cost $2.5 million
  • Planned date of completion is July 2017

The county’s Linear Park trail at Brevard Zoo is just over a mile in length, but thanks to a tax referendum from the Florida Department of Transportation soon you’ll be able to walk along a path that is nearly three miles long.

The project has been in the works for sometime now and the Brevard Zoo says they couldn’t be happier. Once work is completed and open to the public, they see it bringing in even more tourism.

“Once it gets connected and it can open from both ends, we really, as we already see, an influx of people coming to the trail and then the zoo, we do think we’ll see even more of an increased attendance, which is great,” zoo spokesperson Andrea Hill said.

The project was approved last week by the County Commission and funding should be available at the beginning of July with a planned completion date of July 2017. They estimate the expansion will cost around $2.5 million.
