Remember "I Dream of Jeannie?"

The 60's sitcom about an astronaut and a blonde-haired genie named Jeannie helped put Cocoa Beach on the map.

City leaders honored that legacy Friday with a roadside plaque outside Lori Wilson Park.

"I Dream of Jeannie" was set in Cocoa Beach, though it was never shot in the city. The show did help immortalize the area's image as "the Space Coast," and Barbara Eden, Larry Hagman and the rest of the cast and crew once came to Cocoa Beach for a publicity stunt set around the marriage of characters Jeannie and Major Nelson.

There is already an I Dream of Jeannie Lane also, near Lori Wilson Park. City leaders say people love to take pictures under that road sign, and all over the world "I Dream of Jeannie" is synonymous with Cocoa Beach.
