BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. — Voting of 3 to 2, members of the Brevard Public Schools on Tuesday night decided to keep a mandatory mask policy in place for another 30 days.

However, they added in a provision to allow masks to be removed when social distancing of 6 feet or more if possible.
Several parents spoke out on both sides during the public comment portion of the meeting.
After a lengthy discussion, the majority of the board felt they were not ready to drop the mask mandate or allow for anything other than a medical "opt out,” which means that parents can opt out of the mask mandate with a doctor’s note.
