TAMPA, Fla. – Busch Gardens Tampa Bay is celebrating three new additions to its penguin habitat.

  • Penguins chicks arrive at Busch Gardens Tampa
  • Chicks hatched on Dec. 28,30 and Jan. 10
  • Visitors can see the chicks at the park's penguin habitat

The African penguin chicks hatched on December 28, 30 and most recently January 10.

Busch Gardens' team of veterinarians and keepers are providing the chicks with frequent check-ups. The young birds are also under the care adult penguin pairs, according to park officials.

Visitors to the park's Penguin Point habitat will be able to see the new chicks as well as the older chicks that hatched last fall.

The new chicks' arrivals come just in time for Penguin Awareness Day, which takes place on January 20. In celebration, Busch Gardens will be offering a 10 percent discount on penguin merchandise on January 19 and 20.

The park also offers the Penguin Insider Tour, which gives visitors a chance to learn more about African penguins, which are an endangered species.
