LANGHORNE, Pa. — Sesame Place in Pennsylvania has become the first theme park in the world to be designated as a Certified Autism Center.

  • Sesame Place designated as Certified Autism Center
  • Partnered with IBCCES to provide training to entire staff
  • 1st theme park in the world with designation

The park partnered with the International Board of Credentialing and Continuing Education Standards (IBCCES) to provide autism awareness and sensitivity training to its entire staff.

Sesame Place also has a ride accessibility program, quiet rooms, noise-canceling headphones and low sensory parade viewing.

“As the first theme park in the world to complete the training and become a CAC, Sesame Place is better equipped to offer families inclusive activities for children with autism and other special needs,” Sesame Place park president Cathy Valeriano in a statement.

The designation comes at the start of National Autism Awareness Month.

In 2015, Sesame Workshop launched the Sesame Street and Autism: See Amazing in All Children initiative and introduced Julia, a Sesame Street muppet with autism.
