The Bishop Moore Lady Hornets are dominant on the volleyball court with four state championships in the last five seasons. And as the 2017 season gets under way, they’ve got their eyes on another trip to the big stage with Cameron Scheitzach leading the way.

“She is so special. She is definitely the definition of a good teammate,” said Bishop Moore Head Volleyball Coach Tanya Jarvis.

The senior is stepping up, always the first to offer advice or yell encouragement.

“It’s a new set of girls and we really bonded at our retreat and it’s just building the relationships and bonds and it’s a lot of fun in here,” said Scheitzach. “We go hard every single practice and the girls that are on this team are so special to everybody, especially to me.”

Her leadership abilities may be what make Cameron truly stand out, but her skills on the court are just as obvious. The University of Kentucky volleyball commit is as versatile as they come, leading the Hornets in a variety of stats any given game.

“We’ve thrown her in every position and it’s never been a question of why,” said Jarvis. “She has just been bound and determined to give her best effort and do whatever her team needs her to do and those types of kids are really special these days.”

When asked about personal goals, Schietzach shrugged. She has none. It’s all about the team in her final season suiting up for high school volleyball. Exactly as it should be.

“In our program we like to play for those who can’t and play for those before us,” explained Scheitzach. “So my goal as a senior is to teach the people that are new on this team what Bishop Moore volleyball is, and how to be a part of this program and how to excel as the best.”
