The Boston Celtics signed free-agent guard Shane Larkin on Monday. 

Larkin, who starred at Dr. Phillips High School from 2007-2011, is the son of Baseball Hall of Famer and former Cincinnati Reds great Barry Larkin.

Larkin played for the University of Miami and was selected by the Atlanta Hawks with the 18th overall pick in the 2013 NBA Draft where he was immediately traded to the Dallas Mavericks.

The 24-year-old Larkin averaged 5.8 points and 3.2 assists per game over three seasons playing for the Mavericks, Knicks and Nets.

During his senior year at Dr. Phillips, Larkin averaged 18.8 points, 6.4 rebounds, 6.3 assists, and 3.5 steals per game.  Larkin was ranked as one of the top 30 point guards by Scout.com.
