Orange City University pitcher Logan Allen’s final time on the mound was as good as it gets, as the senior ace pitched a no-hitter in the semifinal, the first in a state tournament game since 2005.

“It’s really special,” said Logan. “Last time I am going to touch the field with these guys and to go out on the mound and throw a no-hitter is special to me, special to the team.”

Allen did it all in that Friday night semi-finals victory over Miami Palmetto. 10 strikeouts in 7 innings, with only one walk allowed to break up the perfect game. Tack on a home run in the first inning and a two RBI single in the 4th.

“All I can tell you about him is he does it every week. Every start his numbers are consistent, with outstanding effort and success week after week, month after month and he has done it year after year since he was a sophomore,” said Head Coach Frank Martello.

“To shine on the biggest stage and be able to do something that hasn’t been done in well over 10 years that was terrific. To hit the home run itself in the first inning, that in itself was amazing. And then to go out and keep your composure and consistency, you can’t give him enough credit.”

With three years pitching for the Titans coming to an end, the FIU signee leaves behind a 33-3 record with 391 strikeouts total. Obviously those stats would make any coach thrilled, but for Martello, Logan is about so much more.

“People don’t realize he is an A student, he is at school every day on time, he has never been a discipline problem in my program,” said Martello. “I am definitely going to miss him. He was a special young man and he is going to have a very bright future in the game and then out of the game.”

Allen and the Titans finish the season as state runners-up, falling in the championship game to Timber Creek 5-0. Not the picturesque ending the Titans were hoping for, but a strong season nonetheless.

“We came together as a family. Obviously tonight wasn’t the night we wanted but we came together as a family,” said Logan. “Win or lose these are my brothers and I’m just proud to be a part of it.”
