It’s already been a busy summer for Joe Milton. From camps at various universities to a trip to California to compete in the Elite 11 finals. Surrounded by 24 of the country’s top quarterbacks the rising Olympia senior fit right in and took in even more.

“It felt great because one day you’re going to play them in college,” Milton said. “I take the time to know their weaknesses now, and instead of going to college and not knowing their weakness.”

The 6’5” righty has been praised for his cannon arm and is listed by 247 Sports as the ninth best pro style quarterback in the country. Milton committed to Michigan in early May after amassing over 20 offers from some of the top schools in the country. Olympia head coach Kyle Hayes hopes Milton benefits from all the recruiting attention he received.

“All of this is great for him to learn how to play through distractions,” Hayes said. “So when we go to play big time rivals and there’s a lot of distractions and media and so forth, he’ll know to answer the question, do what you have to do and get back on task.”

The Titans lost in the first round of the playoffs last year but Milton says he has his sights set on winning a state ring.

“I want to leave by breaking everything, by staying humble and I want everyone to know I’m a humble person that always does the right thing.”

All eyes will understandably be on Milton next season but his leadership will be a key factor into determining Olympia’s success.

“All the seniors, we’re going to keep pushing,” the quarterback said. “Make sure all the younger guys are ready, because you’re only as strong as your weakest link. Make sure every guy is grinding and pushing hard.”
