The No. 1 seed Orange City University Titans will face the No. 3 seed DeLand Bulldogs in the Class 9A District 2 championship game on Thursday night at Melching Field at Conrad Park.

University defeated the No. 5 seed Lake Mary Rams 6-4 in one semifinal while DeLand beat the No. 2 seed Sanford Seminole Seminoles 6-1 in the other semifinal played Wednesday night. Both semifinals were televised on Spectrum Sports.

University was led by senior left-hander Logan Allen. He pitched six innings and gave up only four hits while striking out eight batters. Allen, who signed with Florida international, threw 103 pitches on the evening. 

Lake Mary (13-14) jumped out front 2-0 after RBI hits by Joseph Pesce and Tulane-signee Frankie Niemann. The Rams couldn't hold the lead after giving up RBI hits to junior second baseman Jackson Roberts in the fourth inning and by UCF-signee Jacob Molle and junior leftfielder Michael Sinopoli in the fifth inning. The Tians took a 6-2 lead.

The Titans (21-5) have six college signees on their roster and will be making their third all-time regional playoff appearance.

DeLand (17-9) took care of Seminole (15-11) in the other district semifinal behind a stellar pitching performance by Mississippi State-signee Bryce Hutchinson (RHP). He struck out nine batters in six innings.  DeLand has five college signees on its roster.

The Bulldogs, who had lost the last three games to the Seminoles, also qualified for regional play.
