The #4 Winter Springs Bears pulled off a huge upset Friday night by defeating the top-seeded West Orange Warriors 3-1 on the final night of the High School softball regular season. The Game was televised on Spectrum Sports and was played in front of a packed house at Marge Ricker Field on the campus of West Orange in Winter Garden.

The Warriors are the fifth-best team in the nation according to FloSoftball national rankings.

Winter Springs broke open a scoreless tie in the sixth inning when Bears' senior Co-captain Alicia Wittenhagen's RBI single started the scoring. Wittenhagen is signed with St. Petersburg College.
The Bears would add one more run in the sixth to take a 2-0 lead.

Winter Springs freshman sensation Aynslie Furbush added an insurance run with a solo shot to left field as the Bears held on to win, after a failed 7th inning comeback try by the Warriors.

Furbush, who is committed to Ole Miss, pitched a complete game, allowing only six hits while striking out three.

West Orange ace pitcher Lauren Mathis allowed three earned runs on the night, after allowing only two earned runs for the entire season.

Mathis will play for the University of Georgia next season.

Winter Springs finishes the regular season 19–6 while West Orange falls to 21-3.
