The Orlando Pride (0-1-1) got a late goal from rookie Danica Evans to earn a 1-1 draw against the Washington Spirit (0-1-1) in front of 14,452 fans in the 2017 home opener at Orlando City Stadium Saturday afternoon. Brazilian national team member Marta made her club debut in the 59th minute and had numerous chances in her first game, but was unable to give the Pride the victory. The draw extends the unbeaten streak at Orlando City Stadium for all three levels, Orlando City in MLS, Pride in NWSL and Orlando City B in USL Pro.

The Spirit took the lead in the 60th minute on a corner kick that Line Jensen headed over goalkeeper Ashlyn Harris after an intial block by the Pride defense. Harris finished the day with 4 saves, none bigger than in the 29th minute when the Spirit rushed the offensive third and were able to get a point blank shot on frame. Harris was able to get one hand on the shot and Monica rushed in to clear the ball off of the goalline, ending Washington's scoring chance.

Evans, a second half sub like Marta, provided an added spark to the Pride in the final 15 minutes and scored her first career NWSL goal. The Pride outshot Washington 30-15 finished the day with seven corner kicks to the Spirit's three. Orlando will head out on the road next week as they travel to take on the North Carolina Courage on Saturday, April 29.
