On senior night at Hagerty High School, Huskies senior pitcher Bailey Wendel held No. 2 Lake Brantley hitless for the first five innings in an 8-3 victory over the Patriots at Huskie Field.

No. 7 Hagerty jumped out to an early 3-0 lead in the first inning after senior Britt Crawford reached on an error, scoring Brian Ellis from third, and Cameron Alba hit his first homerun of the season over the left field wall. Hagerty added two runs in the third and three in the fourth inning, before Lake Brantley stole back momentum in the bottom of the sixth inning.

Wendel struck out the side in the fifth, before allowing four consecutive hits to the Patriots, including RBI singles from Nick Wells and Griffin Bernardo. Wendel would work out of a bases-loaded jam to end the threat and his night, striking out eight.

Lake Brantley added a run in the top of the seventh, but fell to 16-5 on the season and lost for the first time in the last four games against the Huskies.

Hagerty has won 8 of their last nine games and improves to 17-6 on the season with crosstown rival Oviedo up next on Friday night.
