In a crowd of hopeful NFL draftees Jameis Winston blends in with the others but at the same time definitely stands out.

“When Jameis has an opportunity to talk to those kids, everyone listens,” renowned performance trainer Tom Shaw said. “Even the vets that were up there, they stopped, they listened, they stopped, they’re looking at him, because he’s telling his story.”

Tom Shaw first worked with Winston when he was coming out of Florida State and wasn’t impressed. But now as the Tampa Bay Buccaneer prepares for his third year in the league Shaw can only sing his praises.

“Jameis in two years has learned more football than I could ever imagine,” Shaw said. “That’s why I say he has the potential to be one of the best ever, and I worked with Tom Brady.”

“If you want to be the best you have to train with the best,” Winston said. “What Coach Shaw is doing is going to help me get there. I had to learn how to be a true professional, and I believe I haven’t even reached my max at that yet. I still have room to get better, and that’s why I’m out here working with the young guys seeing how I can improve my game.”

Winston spent the majority of the day training with former Auburn quarterback Jeremy Johnson. But Johnson wasn’t the only product of the SEC out with Coach Shaw. Former Alabama defensive lineman Jonathan Allen and Florida Gator Jarrad Davis both project to get drafted in the first round.

“It gets more and more real everyday,” Davis said. “But I just try to take it one day at a time. I’m focusing on what I’m doing right here, right now at Tom Shaw’s place and it’s been great so far.”

For now Davis is still rehabbing an ankle sprain that caused him to miss some time with the Gators, but come April 27th he plans to be fully healthy for day one of the NFL draft.
