The #1 seed Ocoee Knights and the #2 seed East Ridge Knights both advanced to the Class 8A District 5 final to be played on Friday night.

Ocoee defeated the #4 seed Lake Minneola Hawks 59 -52 in the second district semi final game played Wednesday night at Lake Mineola high school.

Ocoee senior forward Azim Hutson was a spark plug for the Knights and ended up with 15 points and 6 rebounds.

Ocoee senior guard Eisley Porter, who averages 13.0 PPG, led the Knights with 20 points and 9 rebounds.

The Hawks were led by Junior forward Shakeim Lake who scored 14 points for Lake Minneola.

Ocoee (12–14) has beaten Lake Minneola (9–18) only twice in their last six meetings.

In the first semifinal, the East Ridge Knights defeated the Lake Howell Silver Hawks 46–38.

East Ridge junior guard Omar Morales led the way with 15 points and 6 rebounds while junior forward Aaron Vaughn chipped in 11 points for the Knights.

Silver Hawks senior guard to Tariq Escoffery led Lake Howell with 10 points in the losing effort.

East Ridge (17-8) has now won three out of the last five meetings with Lake Howell (15–12).
