The Lake Mary Rams held All-American running back and Miami commit Lorenzo Lingard to 142 yards rushing and rolled up 492 yards of total offense in a 49-20 win at Don T. Reynolds Field Friday night over Orange City University.

The Rams and Titans entered the night in first and second place respectively in Class 8A District 2, but Lake Mary controlled the momentum from the opening kickoff, forcing a three and out by University and then went on to score on five of their six first half possessions. Lake Mary quarterback Brandon Brown led the Rams offense, throwing for 202 yards, 2 passing touchdowns and added a rushing score in the second half en route to being named Player of the Game. Brown’s favorite target, junior Pedro Rodriguez finished the night with 5 receptions and 3 receiving touchdowns.

The win sets up a district title game next week for the Rams (7-1, 5-0) against Seminole who defeated Winter Springs Friday night. The winner will advance to the playoffs, something Lake Mary hasn’t done in the last two seasons.

The Orange City University (4-3, 4-2) loss ends the Titans hopes of winning a district title and advancing to the playoffs for the first time in school history. Lingard rushed for two touchdowns and surpassed the 4,000 yard mark for his career.
