The Tampa Bay Bucs are rested. Are they well though?

Fresh off their mini-bye following the 19-14 loss to New England, the Bucs are expected to get several starters, who have been nursing injuries, back.

The short break after the Patriots loss also gave the Bucs times to try and solve their kicking woes. Gone is Nick Folk, who missed three field goals in the New England loss. And in is Patrick Murray, a kicker who had a previous stint with Tampa Bay.

“I think there is pressure at every position when you get into this league – not so much the kicking aspect of it,” Murray said. “Truth be told, whatever happened in the past is in the past. I’m looking forward to Sunday and that’s all I can control. I’m looking forward to putting some points on the board.”

And that’s exactly what the Bucs need, points on the board. In their two losses this season, Tampa Bay averaged only 16 points. In last season’s 40-7 loss to Arizona, there were a lot of factors working against the Bucs.

“They just physically got after us and we turned it over way too many times,” Koetter said. “When you lose the turnover battle as far as we did last year it’s going to be tough to win. They physically beat us and took advantage of all of our mistakes. We didn’t show up to play that day and we didn’t do a good job coaching either.

“We’ve got to do a lot better in all phases this year.”

Better is the mantra this week for the Bucs.

“We need to play better as a team,” Koetter said. “We need to play complementary football where it can’t just be one side or the other – all three, and special teams, we’ve got to work off each other. I just think that we haven’t hit our stride yet and there is really no good excuse for that. I mean I guess that starts with me.

“We’ve got to do a better job. We’ve got to come out of the gates faster and we’ve got to play better football. Everybody in this league is good. We’ve got to play better. We’ve got to coach better.”
