Oviedo bowler Katelyn Jones has won it all at the lanes, and is refusing to do anything less in her senior season.

“It’s really just about trying to beat what I did last year,” said Jones. “Every time I go out, it’s I need to bowl bigger, I need to bowl better, I need to bowl better for my team.”

The senior bowled her best last season en route to winning the 2015 individual state championship. And she has been a part of a team title before too, back as a freshman in 2013. With one of each championship in hand, she has found motivation in the little things.

“I find something to push myself in. It’s really hard once you are at the top to go ok, what do I need to work on, because it’s like well I did everything great,” laughed Jones. “I guess I need to do everything better.”

Katelyn is a favorite to win the individual title again, but with so many years since her last team title - it’s that, that she is focused on. Especially considering the strength of the team she has surrounding her.

“Knowing that I have such a hard working team and great people, and a coach that is willing to help us in any way, it’s really amazing,” said Jones. “After years of building this team, and trying to push them and push myself in the right direction, I feel like we actually have the chance to succeed and do well.”

The Lion is setting herself up for success on the lanes, one big game at a time.

“I never imagined that I would be throwing such high games consistently, but I do work hard for it. So I guess it is awesome to see that the work that I put in is paying off. Those big games I get to throw all the time, I just want to throw bigger ones.”
