An improbable interception in the end zone put to rest any sort of comeback for Dr. Phillips Friday night on the BHSN Game of the Week.

The Panthers (3-1) scored on their opening drive with DJ Charles and closed out the first half in control, 14-0, but Apopka (4-0) scored 15 unanswered points to win by one point.

USF commit Demetri Burch connected with Deshawn Massey who rolled off multiple tackles for a 49-yard score to open up the third quarter to make it 14-7.

Burch then would muscle his way in to the end zone in the fourth quarter, then tack on two after a botched snap on the extra point attempt.

On the last drive of the game, the Panthers were inside the 5-yard-line with the Blue Darters down to one time out in the final minute, but instead of playing it safe for a game-winning field goal attempt, Dr. P quarterback QB Marvin Washington passed and got picked off by Jarvis Ware.

Apopka then took a knee to wind down the clock, snatching victory out of the jaws of defeat.

The Blue Darters held the Panthers to just 90 second half yards of offense after letting them snag 206 in the first half.

Demetri Burch went 15- for-61 yards with a TD, Massey 21-for-110 with a 49-yard passing score.

Washington closed out the night completing 18-of-29 for 176 yards, 1 TD and 1 INT.

Undefeated APK will travel to University next week as Dr. Phillips goes to Mainland.
