The Sprint Cup season has reached its mid-way point after the Fourth of July weekend festivites at Daytona International Speedway.

The series heads to Kentucky this weekend with Kevin Harvick the current points leader, maintaining just 14-point-lead over second place and last week's Coke Zero 400 winner Brad Keselowski.

One driver hoping to hit victory lane and punch his ticket into the chase is the #23 of David Ragan. Ragan was in Tampa on Tuesday in support of the Shriners Hospital “Walk for Love.”

Ragan finished the Coke Zero 400 in 16th place, a season best that he’s hit two other times. With the NASCAR season now in it’s second half, Ragan currently sits 30th in the Spring Cup standings. He’ll need to jump 14 spots to make the chase cutoff, but he believes the season is far from over.

“We’ve got a lot of races still left so we can evaluate how the first half of the season has been and how we can work hard to improve,” Ragan said. “We can learn a few things that applied at Daytona and apply those to Talladega as well.”

Ragan took part in the “Walk for Love” across Tampa's Riverwalk with all the donations benefitting Shriners Hospitals for Children.
