Day three of Tampa Bay Buccaneers training camp was the first open practice of camp, and the first in shoulder pads and helmets.  Inclement weather caused two delays in practice.  But, the team kept up their intensity from start to finish.  Buccaneers head coach Dirk Koetter liked the players’ aggressiveness, but knows that it needs to be accompanied by discipline.

“These guys like to hit.  So, that energy was good.  What I didn’t like is that first team period.  It was ugly, from a penalty standpoint.  I mean we can’t play that way; we’re not going to play that way.  They'll hear about it.”

Rookie linebacker Cassanova McKinzy had some of the biggest hits of the day.  McKinzy said he likes playing in pads, but also respects that you have to be careful when the pads go on.

“I’m just trying to bring the physicality to the team and to the defense.  Just trying to show the type of player I am.  There’s nothing soft about me.  I like the physical part of the game.  But, when you get those pads on you got them on for a reason.  It’s for you to protect yourself.  It’s so you won’t get hurt and no other player will get hurt”.
