Orlando City will play its second game in five days this Sunday when they take on New York City FC, a squad that’s second in the Eastern Conference Standings. It’s a pivotal moment for the Lions as they’ll be without several key starters.

"We knew this week was going to be really tough," said Orlando City head coach Adrian Heath. "And as I’ve said it comes at the end of a difficult week, to play Saturday, Wednesday with a little bit of pressure on the players, not only physically but mentally."

Sunday’s match against New York City FC will end Orlando City’s three matches over eight days stretch, but the Lions won’t have their full compliment of players when they enter Yankee Stadium. As many as five guys could miss the match, including team captain Kaka who was called up to Brazil’s Copa America Roster. Time for the squad to put their next man up mentality to use.

"We can’t use it as an excuse, we’ve got to just get on with it," said Heath. "Every member of our playing pool that we have has to be prepared for if they’re called upon to deliver. And I’ve got every faith that whoever comes in this weekend will give a really good account of themselves."

Coach Heath says they’ve already picked the team for the weekend and it could be an opportunity for some new faces to get some quality playing time.

"Some of the people who are maybe going to get an opportunity this week have been knocking on my door for 3 or 4 weeks, asking the question why am I not playing. Well, some of them are going to get an opportunity."

"The objective is to get three points," said midfileder Servando Carrasco. "If we can get seven points from our last three games, I think that’ll put us in a really good spot."

The Lions will have 3 weeks off after Sunday’s game. A win would certainly compliment the well needed rest.
