The top girls volleyball teams in Central Florida, as selected by the Bright House Sports Network staff:
1. Bishop Moore (24-1) – Hornets, rated No. 14 nationally by PrepVolleyball, are huge favorites to win the 6A state championship.
2. Oviedo (22-3) – Freshman Rebekah Rath and sophomore Savannah Vach combined for 33 kills in a four set district championship victory over Lake Mary.
3. Hagerty (17-3) – Huskies swept Lake Howell twice in the regular season and they’ll open the 8A regionals by facing the Silver Hawks for a third time.
4. First Academy (22-4) – Royals, who last won a state championship in 2012, are the favorite to take the 4A crown this year.
5. West Orange (21-2) – Junior Makala Heidelberg has 897 career kills for the Warriors, who host Boone in the 9A region quarterfinals on Tuesday.
6. Merritt Island (19-4) – Mustangs are likely to matchup with No. 1 Bishop Moore in Friday’s region semifinals.
7. Dr. Phillips (18-7) – District champion Panthers, who host Lithia Newsome on Tuesday, haven’t won a regional match since 2012.
8. Lake Mary (16-7) – Rams rallied for a dramatic five set win at Spruce Creek in the regular season and Lake Mary will be in Volusia County to face the Hawks again on Tuesday.
9. Spruce Creek (19-4) – Hawks are on an eight match winning streak going into Tuesday’s region quarterfinal against Lake Mary.
10. Lake Nona (14-8) – Lions knocked off Winter Park in four sets and Boone in five sets to claim the 9A, District 4 championship.
