Palm Bay scored 27 unanswered points to come back and defeat Merritt Island 27-10 to secure the 5A, District 14 title.

It's the first district title since 2012 for the Pirates, who snapped a four game losing streak to the Mustangs.

Senior running back B.J. Daniels rushed for 199 yards and scored three touchdowns, all in the second half.

The Mustangs (5-3, 3-1 in 5A-14) controlled the clock and jumped out to a 10-0 lead.

Jimmy Batch connected with Deben Peterson for a 38-yard score on Merritt Island's first possession, which lasted 15 plays.

The Mustangs missed an opportunity to extend a 10-7 lead late in the second quarter when they fumbled inside the Palm Bay five yard line.

The Pirates (7-0, 4-0) owned the second half, limiting the Mustangs to 73 total yards while Daniels churned out big plays on the ground.

The win marked the 200th victory for Palm Bay coach Dan Burke, the longest tenured coach in Central Florida.

Merritt Island can advance to the postseason as a district runner-up with a victory against Rockledge.
