When faced with the tall task of playing two games in four days, Ocoee’s Konrie Brown came up huge for the Knights on Monday and then again on Thursday. Fifty carries in two big district games.

“It was really tough going into two games,” said Brown. “We’ve just been working hard every practice, going hard every rep. Trying to recover after two games, I just recovered after the first game and came back for the next one prepared.”

After rushing for 164 yards and two touchdowns in a win against West Port on Monday, Brown backed it up with 228 yards and one TD in a resounding 42-6 home victory over Lake Howell.

“It’s impressive, it’s awesome, obviously a full offensive effort, and he ran very well,” said Ocoee head coach Ben Bullock. “Explosive in the second level.”

"I felt like my blockers were blocking well," said the junior running back. "The O-line was putting me in a position to be able to make big runs and big plays, so I really want to give them a lot of praise."

There’s praise to go around for the entire Ocoee team. Their win over Lake Howell gave the Knights their first district title in program history, guaranteeing  a school that opened in 2005 its first ever appearance in the playoffs.

“I was just excited to be a part of a program where I can make history,” said Brown. “I just kept my foot on the pedal and kept going, every rep, every down.”

But the work doesn’t end here for the junior or his teammates.

“We might have already secured the district title, but we’ve got three games to play against three big time opponents that we want to be prepared for,” said the second year head coach.

“Keep the intensity up and just keep working towards our goal,” said Brown.

Of writing new chapters of Ocoee history.
