It was a ‘find a way to win’ mentality that has driven Lake Mary’s boys lacrosse team this postseason and last week it was Alex Forehand who rose to the occasion.

The junior attack scored 10 goals to propel his Rams past Ponte Vedra(14-6) and Maclay(7-6) to secure a spot in the state semifinals.

“You know I’ve seen him grow into probably one of the better players in the state,” Lake Mary lacrosse coach Gary Robinson said.

“And it says it all when the pressures on and you step up like that and perform like that—so very pleased and I think the best is yet to come.”

For Forehand it was a simple plan—and all he had to do was execute.

“We just had to come out hot,” Forehand said. “Playoffs are a totally different atmosphere and it was up to the offense to keep it rolling once we got the lead we had to keep going.”

That perseverance paid dividends as the Rams now advance on to the school’s first ever state semifinal round Friday against Lake Highland Prep.
