In a record-setting year for Agape Christian, Wednesday night it was Miami Christian who out worked the Saints for the 2A crown, 71-44.

At the end of the first quarter, it was Agape with a 14-12 lead, fed off the sharp shooting of Andre Bennett who knocked down three, first-half three-pointers.

Miami Christian answered, closing out the second quarter on a 13-0 run and never looked back.

The Victors forced 24 turnovers that converted into 29 points, including a monster alley-hoop in transition set up by Ralph Diaz to Alix Joseph late in the third quarter.

Senior Marquill Smith led the offensive attack for the Victors, netting 17 points, while the junior Diaz recorded a double-double with 16 points and 10 boards.

Andre Bennett and Demauri Hill both had 12 points for Agape Christian in the school’s first ever championship appearance.

It's Miami Christian’s third state basketball title and first since 2002.
