Lake Brantley’s girls’ soccer team hasn’t made it out of their district in 13 years. With history not on their side it was left up to senior Kasey Rakauskas to take charge.

“I don’t think anyone expected us to get this far and from the moment we stepped on the field we just fought,” Rakauskas said.

“I know all those girls, I’ve known some of them my whole life, like we are such a good team and we just wanted it so much that we fought and no one expected us to win.”

Starting her first game in as a forward Rakauskas led the offensive attack, scoring three goals against Hagerty, another two verse Lake Mary and a penalty kick to seal a region playoff berth.
