How they match up: The top two teams in Central Florida square off in the conclusion of an exciting volleyball doubleheader. Winter Springs, which won the Winter Park-Lake Highland Showcase on Saturday, is currently ranked 15th in the country by MaxPreps. The Bears are led by a pair of powerful junior hitters, Bailey Johnson and Payton Caffrey. Caffrey led the team in kills with 512 last season while Johnson has already committed to Florida Gulf Coast. Winter Springs is also one of the area’s youngest teams with just one senior on its roster. Bishop Moore, which has won back-to-back state titles, features a mix of youth and experience with steady senior Gray Malias and freshmen Shannon Crenshaw and Marlie Monserez. Malias, a Yale commit, leads the team with 69 kills. Crenshaw, a 6-foot-1 outside hitter, has a ton of potential. Monserez is following a legacy of success set forth by her older sisters Madison (Florida) and Allie (South Carolina) who are both currently playing college volleyball. It’s the second consecutive season these teams are meeting on Bright House Sports Network. Last year, Bishop Moore topped Winter Springs in four sets.

Three stats to know:

1. Bishop Moore has won four state titles, second most in Central Florida history. Lake Highland and First Academy both have five.

2. Winter Springs has finished as a state runner-up twice (1999, 2011) but never won a championship.

3. Bears coach Kim Vach has won three national championships while coaching for Orlando Volleyball Academy.
