Last week, Walt Disney World announced that La Nouba, the Cirque du Soleil show at Disney Springs, would have its last performance on Dec. 31.

Since opening in 1998, the high-energy, circus-style show has been exclusive to Disney World.

It features acrobats, jugglers, dancers, dazzling sets and live music.

Disney has not said what will replace La Nouba, only that, “given Disney’s strong relationship with Cirque du Soleil over the years, we may soon have news to share about exciting new entertainment coming to Disney Springs.”

What does that mean? A new Cirque show?

The venue is large and perfectly suited to host another show. Or maybe, Disney has something else planned.

If I’m being honest, I wouldn’t mind if Disney decided against bringing in a new Cirque du Soleil show.

In fact, here’s what I propose: Disney on Broadway at Disney Springs.

Disney has had so many musicals either on Broadway or touring the country over the years: "Mary Poppins," "The Lion King," "Aladdin," "Beauty and the Beast" and "The Little Mermaid." Why not bring those shows to Disney Springs on a rotating schedule? "Beauty and the Beast" in the spring, "Little Mermaid" in the fall.

The venue could be revamped to accommodate Broadway-style performances.

And, I’m sure Disney wouldn’t have any trouble filling a gift shop with “The Lion King,” “Aladdin” and “Beauty and the Beast” merchandise.

I’d go, and I doubt I'd be the only one.

Granted, I don’t have any say in the matter, but it’s nice to dream.

If you haven’t seen La Nouba, I definitely recommend seeing it at least once. It's fun, and the soundtrack is amazing.

Again, you have until Dec. 31 to do so.
