Universal Orlando has added a new character experience featuring everyone’s favorite Marvel superheroes.

  • Marvel Character Dinner begins Dec. 7 at Islands of Adventure
  • Spider-Man, Captain America and others will sign autographs
  • Theme parks looking for more ways to include superheroes

Starting Dec. 7, the Marvel Character Dinner will be served at Café 4 at Universal’s Islands of Adventure.

The dinner includes visits from Spider-Man, Captain America, Wolverine, Storm, Cyclops and Rogue. Each character will sign autographs and take pictures with diners. A digital photo from My Universal Photos is also included in the experience.

A buffet will include items such as fresh salads, roasted rosemary lemon chicken, shrimp scampi, chicken scallopini, specialty pizzas and desserts.

With the renewed popularity of superheroes, theme parks are looking at ways to incorporate the characters into new visitor experiences.

Universal holds the licensing for certain Marvel characters. The company secured the rights before the Walt Disney Company purchased Marvel in 2009. Although Disney can’t include those characters in the parks east of the Mississippi, it has added them in California and in parks overseas.

The addition of a Marvel-themed dining experience comes on the heels of reports regarding Disney’s interest in buying assets from 21st Century Fox. The company retains the film rights to Marvel’s X-Men.

Universal’s new dining experience will be offered Thursdays through Sundays from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.

The Marvel Character Dinner will cost $49.99 for adults and $24.99 for children ages 3-9, according to Universal.

Reservations can be made by calling (407) 224-3663 or visiting universalorlando.com.
