You've heard of a pub crawl. What about a gingerbread crawl? You still have a few more weeks to give it a whirl on Walt Disney World Resort property.

Disney's gingerbread displays are so over-the-top that some families spend entire days inside the resorts versus the actual theme parks.

This week, we pounded the pavement -- and monorail -- to soak in the displays at three Disney properties: The Grand Floridian, Contemporary and Disney's Beach Club Resort.

At the Grand Floridian, 600 lbs. of sugar and 1,050 lbs. of honey are just part of the ingredients needed to complete a 16-foot gingerbread house. Honey is the first ingredient.

“We actually send our ginger back to the honey bee farm so that it can be re-used for the next year," Grand Floridian Bake Shop chef assistant Rheanna Schaffer told us.

Over at the Contemporary, designers have created an "It's A Small World"-themed Cinderella Castle.

"We had to scramble around and make a lot of gingerbread really fast," said Chef Jeff Barnes. "It's just a great gingerbread. When you have a great recipe, you have to stay with it."

The display features 17 golden mickeys, the Grand Floridian's has 19, and the Beach Club has 18.

Speaking of the Beach Club, its display is a Lilo & Stitch-themed carousel made mostly of gingerbread, chocolate and fondant. A team of about 20 started working on it in July. But install was pretty quick.

“We come here at 4 a.m. and by 4 in the afternoon, we have it ready to go," said Pastry Chef Thomas Huebner.

“It looks almost fake!" said Emma Friend, 15, Ohio.

"It looks like plastic at first," her sister, Allie, chimed in, "because it looks so real."

GETTING THERE: It's free to go to the resorts and see the displays. However, at any time Disney World may close the parking lot to people who don't have hotel or restaurant reservations.

You can, however, go to Disney Springs and hop on one of the resort buses to see the displays.

The carousel will continue to spin at the Beach Club until Jan. 3.

The Contemporary's castle stays up until Jan. 2

At the Grand Floridian, they'll stop selling treats Jan. 1 and the gingerbread house comes down Jan. 3.
