  • 6 feet tall, 150 pounds at birth
  • Park officials shared his name Wednesday: Quinn

The male calf named Quinn was born on Nov. 14 to Celina, one of the giraffes at the theme park, Busch Gardens revealed Wednesday.

He was 6 feet tall and weighed 150 pounds at birth.

Quinn and his mother are in an area out of sight of guests so that zoo keepers can monitor them.

The pair will join other animals on the Serengeti Plain in the next several weeks, according to officials.

Reticulated giraffes are typically found in northeastern Kenya, Ethiopia and Somalia. They have a gestation period of 15 months and calves nurse for about a year.

Quinn’s birth is part of a Species Survival Plan.

Busch Gardens currently has 16 reticulated giraffes.
