The search continues for the gunman after a parking lot shooting on Monday night caused a Seminole County mall evacuation and families and guests to walk by a crime scene investigation.

The Sanford Police Department and Seminole County Sheriff's Office say some sort of argument outside the Burlington Coat Factory at the Seminole Towne Center Mall escalated at around 7 p.m. and the man, identified as Lewis Thomas Boone, took out a gun and shot 19-year-old Ja'vonte Washington.

"We have identified our suspect, we are seeking our suspect. We're not ready to release his name as we are seeking that person. But again, we have determined it was an isolated incident," Bianca Gillett, public information officer with the Police Department.

Police say a group with Boone ran into the mall. Several law enforcement agencies helped evacuate the mall as they searched for Boone and the people with him.

That group was found and questioned, however Boone got away, police stated.

Sanford Fire crews took Washington to the hospital where he is in stable condition.

Boone is described as a black male, approximately 5 feet, 10 to 11 inches tall. Law enforcement stated that he took off in a black car, but they have not released the make or model.
