The Brevard County Sheriff’s Office is celebrating a milestone -- their crime rate dropped again.

  • Brevard crime rate drops to lowest in 22 years
  • Based on Uniform Crime Rate (UCR) report

According to the Uniform Crime Rate report the department submitted to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, crime dropped to the lowest in 22 years.

“Another significant reduction in our crime rate, we are down another 5.8 percent and since 2013 we are down 19.5 percent,” Sheriff Wayne Ivey says.

Uniform Crime Rate (UCR) report reflects the crimes reported in unincorporated Brevard County during 2017. The UCR focuses on 7 areas that include Homicide, Robbery, Rape, Burglary, Aggravated Assault, Larceny/Theft, and Arson.

“You don’t lower your crime rate by solving crimes, you lower through preventing it,” Sheriff Wayne Ivey explains.
