Almost one year ago, a man went to his former workplace in Orlando and opened fire, killing five others and himself.

A new report released by the Orange County Sheriff’s Office is shedding light on what happened.

News 13 learned more precise information about how the June 5, 2017 shooting transpired out at Fiamma, a company located along Forsyth Road which manufactures awnings for RVs and campers.

For the first time, witness accounts detailed the chaotic moment that 45-year-old John Robert Neumann Jr. began shooting.

Witness Jorge Piriano said that on the morning of the shooting, he noticed Neumann at the door of his workplace. He said, "hello," but the man did not respond to him. He then saw him take out a gun and shoot Robert Snyder while he was sitting at his desk.

Others, including victims Kevin Lawson, Jeffery Roberts and Brenda Montanez Crespo, began running from the front toward the back of the building.

Another woman, Sheila McIntyre, said that she was by the bathrooms when she heard a gunshot. She saw coworkers on the ground bleeding, before running outside and flagging down someone.

Employee Ryan Lemon told investigators Neumann had showed him a startling sight, prior to the shooting: a photograph of two guns and a bow and arrow laid out on his bed.

The report also shed light on the life of the shooter.

One coworker described the shooter as "upset and moody." When asked by detectives if she ever heard Neumann make threats to return to the company to do harm to coworkers, she confirmed that she had.

The report stated that the Maitland man was fired for allegedly stealing awnings from the company to sell online, three weeks to a month before the shooting which claimed five lives.

Neumann's own family said that he was estranged from them; his sister added that she believed her brother suffered from a mental illness.

He was discharged from the military, but qualified as a sharp shooter.
