Osceola County community leaders gathered to advocate for a one-stop shop homeless facility on Monday and address the lack of shelters in the county.

Officials believe people in need are often sent to neighboring Orange County for assistance and that it shouldn't be that way.

This one-stop shop would provide resources to the homeless to help them get back on their feet.

Non-profits in the area are pushing for the facility, as well as Rep. Darren Soto, D-Kissimmee.

"The hope is when families here in Osceola County face crisis that they'll have a place to go and have a helping hand lift them up," Soto said.

Commissioner Peggy Choudhry will be presenting a motion to the Osceola County Commission next week on Monday.
