Central Florida residents shaved their heads to help in the fight against childhood cancer.

The event called Brave the Shave took place Saturday afternoon at Johnny’s Fillin’ Station.

Now in its ninth year, the St. Baldrick’s Foundation event encourages people to shave their heads in solidarity with children diagnosed with cancer.

Firefighters from the Orlando Fire Department and Orange County Fire Rescue teamed up to raise awareness and “brave” the clippers.  

Money raised during the event goes toward pediatric cancer research.

Brave the Shave has raised more than $100,000 over the years.
