Prescribed burns are ongoing throughout Florida, and if you are seeing smoke, today, this may be why.

There are several prescribed burns being conducted by the Florida Forest Service. There are also several large authorized open burns throughout the Central Florida area.

Here they are, county-by-county:

Lake County

The Florida Forest Service is conducting a 53-acre prescribed burn in the Seminole State Forest. It's in an area of east Lake County, 3 miles northwest of State Road 46 and near the Wekiva River.

There is also a 37-acre prescribed burn, southwest of Maggie Jones Road and Royal Trails Road in Eustis, near State Road 44.

Volusia County

FFS is conducting a 140-acre prescribed burn in the Tiger Bay State Forest, west of Daytona Beach.

Brevard County

There is a 200-acre burn near the Osceola-Brevard county line, east of Canoe Creek Road and US 441.

A 125-acre burn near Wickham Road, west of I-95, in the Viera area.

A 10-acre burn near Babcock Road and Micco Road, south of Grant-Valkaria.

Orange County

A 1,129-acre authorized burn south of State Road 50, near St. Johns River in Orange County.

An 85-acre authorized burn in Orange County south of Alafaya Trail and east of Innovation Way.

Osceola County

A 1,200-acre burn near the Brevard-Osceola county line near Canoe Creek Rd. and 441 (This is separate from the 200-acre fire in Brevard County).

A 292-acre burn Triple N Ranch east of 441 and south of 192 in Osceola County.

A 250-acre burn near Nova Road and Tram Road in east Osceola County.

A 250-acre burn near Highway 60 and Peavine Road (or Trail), west of Yeehaw Junction.

Seminole County

A 38-acre burn in the Geneva area of Seminole County, near Sand Pine Place and SR 46.
