UCF Police arrested a suspect Friday afternoon in connection to a string of incidents on campus where women were approached and inappropriately touched by a man they didn't know.

Abdullah Mohammed Zaman, 30, is charged with three counts of battery and one count of attempted battery, according to a news release.

UCF Police say they intend to file a fifth battery charge.

Investigators say surveillance videos, Wi-Fi and digital key logs helped police identify Zaman as a suspect.

According to an arrest warrant filed in Orange County on Thursday afternoon, the man asked several of the women either for directions, help with his car or help with a vending machine. The then touched their leg or groped them.

Four of the five women inappropriately touched identified Zaman in a photo lineup as the man who approached them.

He is a PhD student in electrical engineering, UCF Police said.

"The reason we were able to make this arrest was good police work, tips from the community, great witnesses, and the technology the university has installed over the last few years," said UCF Police Chief Richard Beary in a message to the community.

“Remember if you see something, say something. It works it worked well in this case. Our job is to keep you safe. Please continue to help us," Chief Beary added.

UCF Junior Karlie Brinthaupt said that she felt relief after the arrest.

“... I wasn’t immediately threatened, but I think it’s good if they finally caught him if it’s the same guy that’s been doing it this whole time,” she said.

Zaman bonded out from the Orange County jail at 1:30 a.m. Saturday, officials said. His next court appearance is a status hearing on March 9 at 8 a.m.
