Driver, 14, critically injured in Marion County crash

A 14-year-old girl was critically injured in a crash in Marion County on Tuesday, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The crash happened just before 5 a.m. on County Road 329, near NW 125 Street Road.

According to troopers, the teen was heading east, when she failed to manage a turn.

She lost control of a 2004 Hyundai, which left the roadway and collided with a traffic sign reflector.

The vehicle then hit a wooden fence.

Part of the fence went through the windshield and impaled the teen.

She was transported to Shands Hospital in Gainesville in critical condition.

No one else was in the vehicle at the time of the crash, according to FHP.

The crash remains under investigation.
