At about 9:10 p.m., Bradley King was driving a 2004 Chevy van on southbound State Road 436 in the right lane when troopers say he struck the back of a Lynx bus without slowing down.
The 53-year-old Bonita Springs man then drove off the road and struck a tree, said the Florida Highway Patrol. King died at the scene.
Two people on the Lynx bus were taken to a hospital for minor injuries.
King was wearing a seat belt, troopers said, who are trying to determine whether alcohol played a part in the crash.
The investigation is ongoing.
