A woman accused of killing and then dismembering her boyfriend in Volusia County will remain in Volusia County Jail without bond.

A Volusia County judge denied Tetley bond as she stood before her Friday afternoon.

Nelci Tetley has been charged with first-degree murder after being accused of killing her live-in boyfriend, 55-year-old Jeffery Albertsman, back in July of 2017, with Daytona Beach Police Department saying he had been shot in the head.

Officials also say his arms and legs had been removed and were found in a fernery in western Volusia County.

Police said the tragic incident started with a 911 call from a concerned family member of Albertsman.

“Nobody has seen him in a week or so, but his truck is here, and he’s not answering, and we’re really worried about him,” said a family member of Albertsman to a dispatcher.

Tetley killed Albertsman at a house on North Street in Daytona Beach back in July, police allege.

The family member and officer reported a bad smell upon arriving to the same home.

Family member: “It doesn’t smell good over here either.”

Dispatcher: “What do you mean? What do you smell ?”

Family member: “There’s a bad odor.”

Investigators said Albertsman's body had likely been decomposing for about two weeks before they found parts of his body at the home. They said he was shot in the head and dismembered. The police report said he was also shot in the chest.

Then two months later, about 20 miles or so away, authorities found Albertsman's arms and legs at a fernery in western Volusia County in September.

“We feel very comfortable that we have the right person in custody, who was an absolute menace to the city here. If she's dismembering people's bodies, she’s dangerous,” said Chief Craig Capri.

Neighbors said the couple would argue often, according to the police report.

Officials said Albertsman was stabbed by Tetley in the past, and that she's had a violent history. This is not the first time Tetley has been in trouble with the law either. The sheriff’s office lists four arrests for Tetley within last five years, all including battery charges.

Albertsman reportedly filed an injunction against Tetley, but police said it was never completed. They also said he was afraid Tetley would kill him.

Police said they couldn’t comment further, but Tetley was the person of interest in a similar case from 10 years ago when a man’s body was found dismembered in Ormond Beach. Ormond Beach police said it’s an active investigation and wouldn’t comment.

Officials said they spoke to the family after Tetley’s arrest and the family is grateful to now have some closure.

“I'm just glad we were able to get closure for the family and get this suspect off the streets before she did this to somebody else,” Chief Capri said.
