Luis Toledo, the man found guilty of murdering his wife and two stepchildren back in 2013, will spend the rest of his life in prison, a judge ruled Friday morning.

A judge read the verdict of three life sentences for Toledo, one for each of the deaths of his wife and stepchildren, and another five years for tampering with evidence.

A jury convicted Toledo in October of 2017 for the murders of Yessenia Suarez and her two children, Michael Otto, 8, and Thalia Otto, 9.

Their bodies have never been found.

In November, the jury recommended a sentence of life in prison without parole.

"He should remain closed in a small cell where he cannot enjoy the freedoms we all have. I want him to die in jail. And every single night and every single night and day, think about the horrible crime he committed." said the mother of murder victim Felicia Perez.

After years in and out of court, hearing all the evidence, the Judge gave Perez her wish.

“I don’t believe you are remorseful and as such, you will receive no mercy from the court,” said Judge Zambrano.

Toledo’s sentencing is a small victory for a family still deeply haunted by their great loss.

“I'm so happy that he will never come out of there. We are happy, we are pleased,” Perez said following the hearing.

On Friday, state attorneys representing the case expressed hope to be able to help the family find answers in the future.

“There is always something to negotiate whether it’s here in court or in the department of corrections. There’s still the opportunity to negotiate for better status within the prisons things like that,” said Prosecutor for the State Attorney’s Office, Ryan Will.

While it’s unclear if Toledo will ever tell the truth about what happened to his family or where their bodies are hidden, their loved ones still hold onto hope.

“I will not stop until I find my family or until it’s my last day on this earth. I will never stop. They will always be will us and I will not stop until I find them,” Perez said.
