Want to earn extra cash while watching over patrons on Space Coast beaches?

Brevard County Ocean Rescue is looking to fill 30 seasonal lifeguard positions. The first of two open tryouts is Saturday, Jan. 13.

The tryouts take place at the Rockledge High swimming pool promptly at 7 a.m.

Candidates must be older than 16 by Jan. 27 and have strong swimming skills. You must be able to swim 500 meters in less than 10 minutes, run a mile in less than 10 minutes and perform an agility test.

Candidates must bring a valid driver's license, social security card, swim attire, towel and running shoes.

Hired ocean lifeguards will work from February to October and make $10.25 an hour.
